Well, there are sometimes legitimate reasons- for example, on the old forum Sam had an alias account which was a mod rather than an admin, as did I, and I had an unknown admin account in case mine and sam's got targeted again. But some people are just being cowards.

Enri has apparently said she wouldn't like to be a mod, though anyone may contradict me on that

Some people have 2- Vixie created RH in order to avoid people thinking that Vixie was a jerk for spouting random accusations about a girl she knew. But it's generally frowned upon, especially if it's for as cowardly a reason as that.

Whoever said we were doing three?
