Yes. That's the 'automatic checking' I was referring to. With user lookup customizations and so on, however, I suspect that that might take some more time to figure such things out, and I haven't had too much time to do programming (nor been feeling like it, to be honest).

That might work, but it's rather tricky. If I were to implement such a thing, I'd prefer to just have a separate page for it, rather than a checkbox on the rating page. But in whatever case, it'll need some thought before I can give it a proper implementation (and suggestions for that are always wel...

And what if the pet was changed through the labray/Boochi/Fountain Faerie event/something else?

I've been considering some ways of logging such statistics, but I've got the feeling this method could meet with some practical problems. Automatic ways might be somewhat more reliable.

The difference between actual new colours and revamps is not actually stored inside the system, so that's not as easy to retrieve as it seems. As for a small image link... I'd have to check what would be possible there, depending on what the <description> tag for feeds allows. As for the updates: It...

It'd have to do that the following times as well, as presumably it only retrieves the .xml file itself.

It seems to have retrieved them now anyway. It doesn't look too inspiring (and seems to ignore the date field when showing on your friends list), but it's there..

Actually, the RSS feed itself is more like a special page on the site that a computer program or script can read (and is intended to be read by computers rather than humans) that can be used to tell people when news has been added to a site, content, or other things. For Neocolours, there is such a ...

The RSS feed has been integrated with the detector script since approximately January :)

Still, thanks for creating it. I'm sure it'll proof to be useful.

Hmm... well, the RSS feed allows you to get ten pets, instead of the standard five. And the number of pets on the front page can be varied - I already have it set to six and didn't have any problems today.

I'll try to find another solution as well in the near future.

If you use FF, just click the right icon that appears to the right of your adress bar. IE doesn't have anything like that, though. Alternatively, add http://www.neocolours.me.uk/newpets.xml to your favourite RSS aggregator. I'm not sure how to set such things up for Livejournal. so I'll leave that f...

Sketch Acara

As those subscribed to the RSS feed know (HINT! HINT!), aside from the Grey Acara, a Sketch Acara has been uploaded as well. http://images.neopets.com/pets/happy/acara_sketch_baby.gif http://images.neopets.com/pets/hit/acara_sketch_right.gif I can't say I really see a problem with it, but then again...

And that'd be nifty if someone figured out the php code to put the trophies on our little member lookup things here. Hey, the WW trophies could go there too, I guess. And then we could have a little "Trophies: #" out on the left of our posts with all the other stuff. That'd be fun. Or lik...

Aaargh, no, you're right. It's a bug. As you can see, when you look at the Pirate Gnorbu, the tablecell background is darker than normal. For some reason, the script is refusing to properly detect the Pirate Gnorbu, and sets it back to it not existing at all when it is run automatically. I've been m...

The last check has been... 55 minutes ago, and from what was discovered then, it hasn't been released. If you want to know when the site has last checked the rainbowpool pages, check the bottom of the About page . And if a colour isn't on Neopets' Rainbow Pool pages, it can't be painted yet. I'm pre...

Speckled Quiggle

What, nobody mentioned this one yet? It didn't show up on the frontpage because it was created before the Purple Quiggle, yet uploaded only today, but we've also got the Speckled Quiggle now. http://images.neopets.com/pets/happy/quiggle_speckled_baby.gif http://images.neopets.com/pets/rangedattack/q...

First of all, Neopets doesn't allow us a proper way to do so. Pets always have the exact same url pattern: http://images.neopets.com/pets/$pet_$colour_baby.gif, also known as $preurl.$_REQUEST['pet']."_".$_REQUEST['colour'].$posturl . (Yes, that makes sense once you start dealing with diff...
