Oshawott makes me think of Oshawa instead, which is I think a bit better. ;) I don't think I'll stop seeing that either. ^-^; Now I want to have an Oshawott and name it Oshawa. :P

The names alright. Don't like or hate them. They'll grow on me. And I think I like Isshu better then Unova. Isshu rolls off my tongue better. But again, I'll adjust after many hours of play. XD

Just as I got used to the Japanese names...Oh well, I'm just going to give them stupid nicknames anyway. The rest of the pokemon better not have names as stupid as this. I hope Desukan has a badass name.

Snivy is decent, as it combines "Snake" and "Ivy" and manages to sound like "Snide", which suits it perfectly. Tepig is just plain stupid ("Tepid" and "Pig"), and Oshawott is WTF. I'm definitely NOT happy about Isshu -> Unova the most, though. Such a pointless and unnecessary name change.

...I liked the fan names better. =P And why even change Isshu's name? Were any of the other locations' names changed during localization? </new player>

Nope, none of the other region names were changed. Maybe they were worried that Isshu sounded too much like Tissue? I have no idea. I'm guessing that Reshiram and Zekrom are keeping their names as is, since they were in the Macy's Parade thing with those names.

My only guess about the region name change is that they wanted to keep the 'o' theme going? All regions have at least one 'o' in their names, except Isshu. Maybe... maybe that's what they were going with? I mean it's not a very good reason but it's the only link I can see 8/
I'm on the fence with starters. I'm totally ok with Snivy so long as it's pronounced like 'ivy' not 'iffy.' The only two.. I'm getting used to them. I'm just hoping other bad/strange names are few and far between for the rest of them.

I don't think that it was necessary to change the name. I do think that Unova is a pretty name though.

Yeah, it's not the name ITSELF that I can't stand, it's the fact that they changed it at all that makes me nervous. Pointless name changes tend to be one of the hallmarks of bad "Americanized" translations...

Also, I totally know what my final team will be.

'Unova' just sounds so... intimate to me. Which makes me feel immature and giggly. But I don't really like it - Isshu all the way.

Oh yeah, speaking of names, according to Serebii.net's news today, Zorua and Zoroark have the same names in English, while the attacks Claw Sharpen and Trickery have been named Hone Claws and Foul Play, respectively.

If it comes out on the DS, i'll probably get it. Chances are that aside from one or two, i'll still stick with mostly first-gen Pokémon.

It'll be on the DS won't it? Because I just got a new DSI and I can't afford a 3DS.

Going by the cover cases, I don't see why they wouldn't be on the DS.

But, yay for a release date. I'll have to wait until Easter to get one, though.
