Desktop Thread

Post by dandelions »

Because it's been a few months since we had one of these, I decided it was about time to make a new one. For people who've not seen these before, it's a place for you to share your desktop images :)

Since the last thread, I've acquired a second desktop on the same computer :) I now use Ubuntu for most things on my computer, and keep Windows for some tasks I can't otherwise do (drawing, mainly, but also backups to DVD). I also have win95 installed, but you can't see that desktop until I get the display drivers working properly and it stops forcing 16-colour mode (which, dahlings, is so 1993). Click the images to see full-size versions. Both backgrounds come from deviantart; I've forgotten who did the blue one, but the other one is by loish.

I like having a cluttered desktop, I feel it makes it more personal and less of a thing to have to clean.

That's a screenshot of the game 'Bad Dudes'

I didn't know how to upload and post it like Jazzy did, mine got shrunk during the upload. But here it is:

It has soooo many icons on it that I don't/can't use. e.g. MapleStory doesn't work for me and my PC goes far too slow to play Sims 2 anymore. ;-;

Anyway, the image is something I made when I was randomly playing about in PSP and discovered the Kaleidoscope effect.

Na na, na na na na na na na, na katamari damacy...

Thanks, this convinced me to do a bit of cleanup. I always end up with tons of unused shortcuts and sad, lost files. :D

Laugh at me, for I have Vista. Looking at all my shortcuts it's kinda amazing how I got so many in two weeks. Anyway, the picture is basically the cover from the first Venus Versus Virus manga, just without the text.

I have a very egocentric wallpaper right now. A couple of weeks ago my best friend and I modeled for a photograper acquaintance, and, well, some of the photos he played around with in PSP came out really well IMO.

I try to keep only icons of programs I use often on my desktop - so art programs and RO, haha.

As usual, it's from my favorite anime of all times, Tactics, the most underrepresented and unappreciated anime ever. And I still owe people burned CDs of all the episodes... so if you want one, let me know, and I'll mail them out this week, promise >_> Anyway. Kantarou and Haruka FTW.

The Calvin Harris thing isn't part of my desktop obviously, Cover Sutra displays whatever is playing in iTunes.

I love how your avatar is your desktop, Jenna! That's MSN and NC on there too right?

I think my desktop has stayed the same since I got this comp a year ago. I absolutely love this picture, and I like having a dark background, so it works out nicely. This picture was drawn by Arcipello.

Funny, I was just looking at loish's gallery yesterday, at random.

I haven't changed my desktop at home since ... I think the desktop thread before last, but right now this is my desktop at work. It used to be this, but I crave change occasionally. (Not screenshots, because there's never anything interesting on my desktop.) When cruel circumstance forces me to use the next station over, my desktop is this.

I'm too lazy to make a thumbnail and my desktop is huge.

Right now, my desktop is very messy. But I always move the icons around whatever subject matter is on my background--delicious Optimus Prime! Usually, I'm not so messy, but a lot of that is icon stuff I've collected--Firefox downloads to the desktop by default, and I'm using it while I wait on formatting my computer. There are some movies, too, such as 300 (whee piracy). Hmm, I still have a Trickster Online link; I'm bored of that now, I should uninstall it. 2moons is losing my interest, maybe I'll uninstall that. Insaniquarium, hmm, I should get rid of the shortcut, because it kills my hands to play that, and they're already dead.

Observe also the number of windows open at the bottom pertaining to work. 5! Fiiiive. Gross. Of course, I also have Portal open to 3k; it's a free MUD that's basically just a big chat room where you can also fight things. If anyone wants to play, I can get you set up. [/advertisement]
