My bookcase is more a...storage cupboard. There's a shelf of books (most of them ones I just found in my room and used to fill space) and then there's a bigger shelf filled with playstation magazines and a human league cd.

My bookshelf is pretty much overflowing. I've run out of wall space, desk space and the rest of my house is pretty much the same. There are bookshelves up the stairs and in the hallways and they're completely full. Of course that doesn't stop any of us buying more.

That's my main bookcase, I refuse to throw out any of the books even if I haven't read them in years. You can't really see what's on the shelves in that though so:

These are my most recently bought ones, and as you can see I really don't have enough shelf space for them. It's already avalanched on me one or twice.

Some of these have been on my "to read" list for ages and I still haven't got around to it. My sister recently decided to do a huge clear out of books post university so I managed to get some of the Animorphs back off her. She used to get the even numbered ones and I the odd. There's still a bunch missing which is annoying, not that I could fit any more on.

I went through a huge Jacqueline Wilson phase and still can't bear to get rid of them.

The lower the shelf, the older the book - these are from before secondary school.

This is part of my Dad's sci-fi shelf, I'm still trying to figure out a way of taking the Pratchett without him or my sister (who also wants them) noticing. We're seriously a family of hoarders, and it's worst when it comes to books.

I quickly took a few pictures of my bookshelf, it's pretty big, takes up an entire wall in my room. I'm a big reader, but a lot of my books are OLD and in Finnish and I don't read them anymore. XD
But to the pictures!

The bookshelf! I had to step outside my room to get a shot of it.

Some of my english language books, well my only shelf with only english books, not counting school books.

Hee, hee. I need to photograph my entire bookshelves. Right now here are some sample photos:

The former is from one of the two bookcases in my room, the latter from the big entertainment center in my living room.

Why yes, I do take a lot of photos of the cats, why do you ask?

Alright, since Seerow has been bothering me, I'm gonna post my bookshelf, at least the parts that are organized. And I'm making it in a new post instead of the last post where I said to watch the space.

My four shelves of manga. Well almost 4, I've got some Harry Potter on there too.

And now's where I really out myself as a psychotic anime fan, as I present the anime shelves, and lack thereof.

Note the large pile of anime that no longer fit on the shelves.

It's kind of embarrassing in a way.

I'll post more of my bookshelves with actual books if they get sorted out anytime in the near future. Though it's likely they'll be piled in disorganization for awhile.

Ty, I know how it is to have lack of used book stores. We only had one here about 7 years ago I think. It wa sa real nice one too. It was in a 3 story house and there were books all around. But the owner had to close it down cause of lack of money. So now I just have to depend on Wal-mart or the library for books unless I get a ride to one which is about a half hour trip or if I order online, which tends to be cheaper then buying them at the store. I'll keep my eyes peeled and see if I get lucky on finding any.

Ah, such nice collections people have, makes mine look pitaful. ^_^"

I am sooooo going to post a picture of my books as soon as I move into my place (tomorrow! or wednesday! soon, at least). I probably won't have bookshelves immediately. More likely I'll do what I did at school and just line them all up in person-sized stacks along the walls.

In the meantime, here's a picture of some shelves that I wish so much were mine -- the poetry room at San Francisco's City Lights bookstore.

I recently threw away bags and bags of crap that I had built up in my room over the years, including books. Throwing books away was so completely inconceivable to me at the time, but I wanted a fresh start and told myself that I'd replace the ones I really liked with hardcover versions. That leaves me with the full hardcover Harry Potter set, 5 hardcover books from The Wheel of Time, and a couple choice paperbacks and 3 or four fiction paperbacks I haven't read. Despite me failing out of college more times than I can remember, I've keep quite a few school books, mostly the ones from composition and religious studies. I still haven't read any of them.

crap quality pictures because I just woke up and my hands aren't awake yet.
I don't have a bookcase, per se (lolz, spelt wrong for comedic effect, as far as you know) so here's a dvdcase instead.

My novels and dragon/horse collection on top. Ken Follett, Nelson Demille, Michael Crichton, and Tad Williams, along with whatever else catches my eye. Most of these came from the library sales, and cost 2$ apiece.

And my various photo/art books. I'm very proud of these, because they are not cheap. Some were graduation presents, and some I got for Christmas. A few I got at the library sale, like the giant one on the left - the complete works of Michelangelo for 12$.

I've met ONE other person whose read that book, and only then cause I forced em to. I love that book so very much, even if the sequels were rather bad.

My bookshelves (sans cats this time):

The living room entertainment center, holds CDs, VHS tapes, and DVDs. Also speakers, TV, Kass, and numerous assorted gryphons and dragons.

The living room bookcases, purchased when I started grad school and lived in an attic where the walls weren't tall enough for full size bookcases. Now they nestle under the breakfast bar thingy seperating my living room from my kitchen area and hold mostly cookbooks, knitting books, bird books, and psychology books, plus assorted notes from undergrad and grad school, my Cooks Illustrated magazines, and other misc. crap.

Bedroom bookcase 1. Holds mostly hardcovers since this sort of bookcase doesn't have enough shelves to make the shelves a good paperback height. Plus there are plushie gryphons and dragons on top, of course.

Bedroom bookcase 2. This one has mostly paperbacks because I can add as many shelves as I want. I have to use bookends on some shelves because the backs and sides are open. The depth of the shelves and the open sides also make behind the books a nice place for a kitty to explore (this is the shelf my black cat Stormy is in in the picture a few posts up.) This bookshelf is very tall and always looks ominously like it's about to fall forward onto the viewer.

If you have an IKEA near your new place, you can have one. That where I got mine (the "Ivar" shelving system) along with my entertainment center (also the "Ivar" system), my computer desk, my dresser, and, in fact, most of the furniture in my apartment...
