Halloween Costumes!

Post by Huggles »

Okay, so it's like 6am where I am and way past my bedtime and I've been spending all night looking up Halloween costumes. I don't have anywhere in particular to wear mine, no parties or parades or trick-or treating, but gods dammit I'm dressing up even if I sit at home on my couch doing nothing! Well, I could wear it to work if nothing else comes to pass. Anyway, have you ever tried looking up a plus size, full figured, or even just a women's costume online? For the love of Bob! I spent hours trying to find something that didn't include the words sexy or wench. Jeebus. Mind, there's nothing particularly wrong about wearing a bikini as a costume, but not evey woman wants to be a sexy_______ for Halloween. Or can rather. If I plan to wear mine to work, and I kinda do, I can't have my boobies flying everywhere and I don't want to have to ruin the look by wearing a t-shirt under the cleavage shirt or jeans under a micro mini skirt.

Anyway. I wanted to be a ninja, but I decided that it would be redundant to go as myself. Besides, no one would see me and what's the point of that? So I then I decided I wanted to be something silly and completely non-threatening, a pirate. But lo, wenchs were nearly all I could find. I did find this, but the top is just too low cut and I'd have to wear something else underneath and I'd rather just get everything in one go. And I'm also afraid the hat wouldn't fit my huge head. I like to think of it as spacious though.

So at the very end of my searching, I finally found Moon Costumes cosplaying section. I'm not into dressing up outside of Halloween, or apparently even for Halloween since I was a kid, and I was always under the notion that cosplayers made their costumes themselves. The stuff can be kinda pricey, which is what I'd expect, but I figure I've got at least 14 years of Halloween to make up for. I still don't know much of anything about em, so if anyone has any experience with them or anyone else, I'd welcome your insight.

If they turn out to be legit then I'm going for either: Tifa's outfit from Advent Children. It's sleeveless and while I don't particularly like sleeveless shirts because my arms are huge compared to the rest of me, they are functionally the best because of that same reason. Plus, it gives me an excuse to use for beating the crap out of people, you'll find this is a common theme amongst my selections. Hee.

Soi Fon from Bleach. Pretty much covers all the bases for comfort and no one here would probably know who am I. I doubt they'd recognize Tifa either, but I could just go HAI I'M JAPANESE and keep the awesomeness to myself.

Rangiku Matsumoto is my final option. She's not one my favorites and is a total fanservice whore, but we do both have big boobies. It's also the cheapest and if I took the pink sash off, I could just be a generic shinigami.

I am doing this now to kinda get ahead of the masses. There will be pictures upon completion of my mission.

Huggles, sticky this. You'll have several lengthy, image heavy pages by Halloween, from other users as well. and it'll be fun. That is all.

I've never tried looking online for a costume, but then I usually bought mine at Walmart when I was little or my mom made them. I've been having Halloween parties with my friends for the past few years and just did the best I could with what I could find.
I gotta agree with you on the Sexy whatever costumes. They get a litle ridiculous. I once saw a Sex M&M costume, it was scary. I wasn't aware you could turn an M&M sexy.

I think this year my friends and I are going to be dressed up as Firefly characters. I think I'm going to be Kaylee. I'd like to be River though, so not sure yet :P Goodwill, here we come!

Well I'm one of those do it yourself cosplayers, (as some of you may remember from various Maple Story contests.) But I'm actually not entirely sure what I'm doing this year. Last years costume still needs a circlet and a cape before I can really say it's complete, and since I haven't played MS ages, I'm kinda bored of it. And since I missed last years contest I'm probably just going to enter it with last years costume, plus the updates I mentioned. For Halloween itself though, I really don't have many plans at all. I've been thinking of Princess Azula from Avatar, or Franziska Von Karma, but both would take a lot of work (I'm still burned out from the last project,) and I'm not sure I have the time with school. And if all else fails, I make a pretty mean pirate (bad photos and con badges aside!)

Ooooh Joey, I love your pirate. I would love to do it myself, but I have neither the time, patience or experience. I'd be starting in November for next year's if I did. I kinda of lean towards costumes with a bit more realistic look, but then I've also seen the same really nice wonder woman costume just about everywhere. I even found perfect Jem and Clash costumes from the Jem and the Holograms cartoon in the 80's, but they were made for size 6's. I just may kidnap Joey and lock her in the spare room to make costumes for me. Don't worry, there'll be cookies.

I'll sticky this when it gets closer to Halloween and if it does start to get a couple pages long.

I always end up going as a burrito from Chipotle for Halloween... cause if you dress up as a burrito, you get a free burrito :P (Actually, I dress up as tacos. I wear a basket on my head).

So if anyone wants something awesome to do, wrap yourself in tinfoil, go to Chipotle, and get free food. Yum! :3

I would love to actually make a costume this year, but I don't know if I have the time, or motivation. I could always wear my wedding dress and go as a crazy bridesmaid xD

Oh, and Seerow, if you didn't know an M&M could be sexy, you must not have seen the new M&M commercial. Its for these new triple chocolate M&Ms, and it has the green M&M (the only female) withering around on the floor in high heels in a porn scene setting. Not kidding.

Cree Summer can make anything sexy, so that's cheating. Heh. I swear she does voice work for damned near everything.

Dangit, I just found an awesome Mileena from Mortal Kombat costume on ebay, but no one but you guys would understand why that's so amazing. Har! A search on google for Mileena costume brings up my pic of Spongehead on the second page.

Wow, I think I could have lived without seeing that commercial Jessi. It was highly amusing, but so very very wrong.

Last year my roommates and I all dressed up as Wizard of Oz characters. I was the scarecrow. Getting the straw bits to stick out of the cuffs and on the pants was a bit tricky. I didn't want to keep getting poked so I glued the straw to strips of cloth and then tied the strips to myself.
The tin man costume was great, though she couldn't sit down or really bend. Getting her into the car was amusing, she ended up having to lay down and we picked her up and pushed her into the backseat to lay down.

For the life of me I couldn't find the adult plus Storybook Dorothy costume I was looking for. "Adult Plus" apparently doesn't mean sexy plus size, it means frumpy. I made a goal last year to lose weight to get order this costume size. I tried it on last year and I couldn't zip it up. So hopefully it's still there at my Halloween USA this year.

This year, Heather and I are going to a college Nightclub.

I'm still thinking about my costume. My three friends and I were thinking about the Flintstones since we meet all of the height/hair color requirements, but it's still up in the air. I've also been considering going as Dr. Horrible.

I've always been one of those people who like to get really wild and creative - in the past I've gone as Poe's Raven, an iPod, Pacman, Tim the Enchanter, and a cold virus. This year I seem to be getting even more abstracted - I'm considering a 404 error, or maybe a fnord. Needless to say, I usually handmake them. :3 (Oh, and Joey - that is a fantastic pirate.)

(In case anyone's wondering, the whole pornstar!M&M thing is about this old urban legend that 'the green ones' are an aphrodisiac. At first, they tried to deny everything, but a couple of years ago they folded and started selling special bags on Valentine's Day. x3)

Now I want to go and get a better pirate picture for you guys! That one was taken at the last convention I went to by my sister, and her camera's not so great and the lighting was pretty bad. Also cut out of the frame is the giant RESTROOMS written on the wall behind me xD

That costume's been a work in progress for years now. None of it is actually sewn by me, it's all been assembled from parts I've bought as I could afford them. The coat is probably my favorite part.

I'm reusing one of my high school costumes now that I'm somewhere else... so I'm either going to be the Goblin King (Labyrinth), Raine Sage (ToS), or Ms. Frizzle. Probably Raine, because the staff is shiny and lights up and stuff, I love and look good in orange, and... I happen to have her exact haircut right now? Apparently, that's what happens when you plead your hairdresser to cut it into something short and low-maintenance for college. O.o;

Also, Halloween falls on the night the anime/sci-fi club meets, so Raine would be an added bonus for that, too. :3 Theoretically, I've also got the start of a Zelos costume, but it's still in the "unusably early progress" stage, and I don't have that much time. (Even if I *would* like the excuse to flirt with every girl in sight. :P )

Har! My costume arrived and it's hugemongus! Even accounting for my boobs, it's two sizes too big and no take backs. :( I may be able to make it work with some careful belt placement and will definitely have to wear clothes underneath. With notes saying they fit small, and me usually putting on a 2x and having it barely fit sometimes, I was thinking the size was fine. The pants won't even pretend to stay on. My mom felt it necessary to wake me up 3 hours early by yelling "You have a package from China!" to which I responded "What?" several times.

You have a package from China.
What?
You have a package from China.
What?
You have a package from China.
What?

Etc.

Everything is basically made in China, and I knew I ordered it, but for some reason none of it connected and all I could think of was anthrax. Wtf, I know right?

Lately I've been thinking about getting some fangs and putting body glitter on myself and being a Twilight vampire. I'm not sure it will work though because, well, Halloween activities are usually at night.
