Books That Are Fun To Ridicule

Post by Huggles »

Hah! I just looked those vampires up and saw the preview for the movie, series, whatever. They make me laugh. Does she'he write about them being all sparkly all the time? It's mentioned whenever someone talks about Twilight.

Yes the real reason vampires hide during the day is that they sparkle in direct sunlight.
Wait... is that a joke? Or... or is that a real Twilight thing? ...REALLY?

.....Really?!

Honest to Bob, that is real Twilight thing. It sounds too ridiculous to be real but it is! Those books are great for hilarious dramatic readings :D

That there sums up the entire Twilight experience really. I recommend skipping the actual books and just reading Cleolinda's take on it.

I felt so dirty when I touched a Twilight book.

I made a decision not to read them after Ty told me not to (we have similar tastes when it comes to that kind of thing, it seems, heh), but after reading a bit ABOUT them elsewhere, and talking to Joey about it just now in MSN... *shudders all over*

I can't believe they SPARKLE .____.

I must now go read the Cleolinda version, thank you E XD

That kind of makes me want to read the books now. That's so...awful and funny. Is there a reason given for the sparkles? A reason that makes it seem anything other than absolutely ridiculous?

Here's apparently a quote from the book, quoted from the page E linked to, Bon, just so you can see how MAGICAL it is:
Edward in the sunlight was shocking. I couldn't get used to it, though I'd been staring at him all afternoon. His skin, white despite the faint flush from yesterday's hunting trip, literally sparkled, like thousands of tiny diamonds were embedded in the surface.

The annoying part is I want to read the series so that I know what everyone is talking about, and thanks to the vagaries of the library reserve system and people's reading speed, I currently have books 3 and 4 sitting at home, just waiting for book 2 to come in. Which means I'll have to read them all one after another to get them back on time.

I read book 1 and actually found it somewhat entertaining. (Enough so that I'll probably read the rest, as I said, to know what everyone is talking about. Not enough to read them a second time.)

But that much teen angst, one after another, may be more than I can take. I would have preferred to space them out a bit...

I personally loved the series. But I'm such a sucker for the type. Aha.

I'm tempted to split this and give the new thread a title that starts with "Sparkly Vampires." Or maybe "Books That Are Fun To Ridicule," to give it more longevity.

Don't remind me. I was in a class where we had to do dramatic readings from it in high school! *was someone named Carlisle*

All I remember was that it was painfully, painfully bad, I wanted Rocks Falls Everyone Dies, and no one knew how to pronounce my character's name. (Time numbs the paaaaaain. xD )

EDIT: This topic just changed names... erm?

Haha, sorry--I initially messed up the title and had to fix it.

There. Fixed. (I think. I have the flu or something else remarkably painful and unhappy-making, so I probably shouldn't be doing things that involve thinking.)

My question is...how bored does someone have to be to go through this book thoroughly enough to count the number of references to Edward's beauty?
