Re: Neocolours IRC / chat room
Well, that depends. How many meanings of "bags" are there?
Re: Neocolours IRC / chat room
There are 29 nouns, verbs, interjections and idioms listed under bags. Dammits. Now it could be bags.
Re: Neocolours IRC / chat room
Do you use "bag" as a verb to claim posession in the US? It's slightly old fashioned here and I suppose I associate it with boarding school stories. In context, something like "Bags I [or 'Bagsy'] that seat".
"Tote" meaning a bag for carrying things in, usually quite large, is not in general use in the UK. I think quite a lot of people would understand it, but they wouldn't use it.
I guessed Rah meant "totally" when she said "totes".

Re: Neocolours IRC / chat room
The verb I associate most with "bag" is more like "catch"--"I bagged a ten point buck last week!"
Re: Neocolours IRC / chat room
"Bags I [or 'Bagsy'] that seat". No. That would be to call dibs or to call shotgun.
I call shotgun! This would refer to the front passenger seat in a vehicle.
No, you can't have the last slice of pizza. I had dibs!
Ty, yes. Or I bagged(put into a bag) my own groceries at the store today.

I always thought it was T-bag. Because of the way they're, um...nothing.

I suppose it's a good thing I prefer loose-leaf tea.

Aw crapsicles, you all! Now I'm NEVER going to enjoy my "Hyena Juice" again without laughing in dismay. What's worse is that I'm switching from tea bags to liquid green tea I can squirt into the cream soda.... *sigh*
And my family members make fantastic loose leaf mint tea. Mint grows as rampant weeds on our property, but like with the sunflowers and chamomile and (monarch butterfly sustaining) milkweed, we don't mind.
And to tie back into the original intent of the topic, this is one reason why a chat room would be nice, so that THIS stuff isn't stored permanently for all the internets to see! *is literally LOL*

Haha, Huggles, you remind me of when Rah was visiting. There was a lot of Rah saying stuff and us going "Huh?"
My favorite is still "Can I put these in your boot?" These being a ton of shopping bags and 'boot' being the trunk of my car XD

Re: Neocolours IRC / chat room
The British get to laugh at us for "pants," and we get to laugh at them for "rubbers."
Re: Neocolours IRC / chat room
I just had to look that one up on urban dictionary. I don't know if it's not in use in the UK, or if I just haven't come across the practice (which is pretty likely). Considering how attached most Brits are to drinking tea, it doesn't seem right to use it for something so... gross.AngharadTy wrote:Let's not forget about the very important verb: to teabag.
We laugh at your fannies, too.AngharadTy wrote:The British get to laugh at us for "pants," and we get to laugh at them for "rubbers."

Re: Neocolours IRC / chat room
If it helps any, I consider it more a douchebag gamer move than a sex act. People in shooter games, after killing you, will crouch over your head a few times, thusly teabagging you and proving that they're idiots. (Best thing ever is to kill someone who's preoccupied teabagging a corpse.)
Re: Neocolours IRC / chat room
It is also a favorite prank of immature "straight" guys (edit: who are not necessarily gamers. No offense to gamers, just didn't want any confusion. ) performed on other guys who are usually passed out.AngharadTy wrote:If it helps any, I consider it more a douchebag gamer move than a sex act.
Anyway, to be on topic. I fully support a chatroom and I'm sorely disappointed that I didn't spend a whole lot of time in the previous room.
