Coding Woes

Post by Xelio »

I've had my alien Itgu for a little over a week now and am still fighting to get part of his lookup coded correctly. I thought it would be cute to have a sort of digital journal on his lookup, detailing what has happened to put him in his current customization whenever I update him. (I.e. if he's in a tree, it's because he's stuck. If he's in a dress, he was copying some native of the planet and wasn't aware that it was "girl" clothing.)

To that end, I designed a little data pad and did some coding on it. Problem is, the text is overflowing the edge of the "screen" by quite a bit, and all the fiddling with the number doesn't seem to help. A good friend of mine who is a wiz with coding has tried to help me figure out what's wrong, but she can't seem to tweak it either. When she tried putting it on a petpage it worked fine, but on a pet lookup the values go all wonky. I don't know if it's the coding on the rest of his lookup that causes the issue or what. I guess first I want to know if it's possible to fix this issue. If not, suppose I'll just format the text with paragraph breaks to get it to fit where I want and not have a blurb of text large enough to need a scroll bar.

Here is the lookup coding in its entirety:

Try this on the smaller code you posted. I decreased the second td in the second tr from 427 to 360 and increased the 3rd one from 5 to 72. There's three td widths that altogether take up a total width of 496ish? and to change one you have to change one or both of the others for it to register. I tried it on Khadmis and I think that's what you want. Let me know if it doesn't work. Forgive my crap grammar today. School makes Huggles brain tired.

Are you sure you're not some coding deity? To use an old expression and (in my opinion) random expression, you hit the nail right on the head. I can not fully express my gratitude.

I wish I were. Really, I do. I just went through all your numbers and changed them individually, or in small groups, by doubling them. That way, when I checked the preview, It'd be fairly obvious if something changed. I have to admit it was nice being able to fix something when none of my code at school has worked for the past 2 months.

Shame about how things are going at school. Maybe you'll get some positive vibes from helping me out. Seriously though, if I get unlazy and finish drawing his real topbar image I'll actually be done with Itgu's lookup. It's quite exciting. I think it'll be the fasted I've assembled a pet lookup ever. Some people get these things done in a day or two, but a month is a good time frame for me. Suppose this thread is finished. Yay.
