Bah, I hope to god the extreme amount of detailing/overshading/highlighting isn't the new trend. The only artist who seems to have this "problem" of overdoing it is DNA, and I wouldn't want to see the other artist's lovely shading forced to be changed to comply with this.
Wanna donate towards my drink gallery, the Golden Goblet.

I wouldn't either, Seerow, because most of the time I love the way pets are shaded on Subeta - DNA's style of shading is the only that seems to bother me. And it seems weird that all of these pets have gone through huge revamps, and suddenly they're going to change them to have 'more realistic shading'... when it just looks.. awkward.

DNA is being sarcastic to anyone who disagrees with this revamp, like always.
I never comment in news posts if I don't like something. Even if I critique it, I'll get every mod, artist, and brown noser on me, saying how great it is and how hard they worked. I'm sure they worked hard, but I notice DNA tends to mold pets into her own style instead of what the original pet was. Not going into it, but you know what I am referring to.

I don't think it slimmed down much. It still has a huge badonka donk. Old Morti had a pudge, but not something of this girth. But as someone said, she's best with chubby or muscly things. I still think it could use improvement, like the line art for example. Seriously, has no one on staff told her lines are way way way too thin? I know she is the head of the department, and her art is fantastic, I respect her skills. But I do not respect her attitude when it comes to dealing with people.

And I'm very annoyed that every time someone mentions anatomy, the staff will say: "Well, it's an XXX subeta pet! Not a real life XXX!"

I'm getting annoyed with this comment. It's in almost =EVERY= revamp. They go "It's based off this animal", which is fine and dandy, but don't say that, and THEN say it has it's own anatomy. It's contradicting. It's one thing to take artistic liberties, it's another to try and flip your words around when someone tries to tell you what is wrong.

And the overly shaded thing kills me. Again, she is a GREAT artist. I would never say she is not.

Better, but still needs work. The claws are still very blunt and the snarl is still weird. The new horn behind it's eye looks misplaced and I still don't like how rounded the black marking under its eye is. The color schemes on the colorfills are decent, except for nuclear. Nuclear pets just aren't my thing anyway, but I think the mortiking has one too many colors with those gold claws. If I had to pick a color other than scribble for Dacon, I'd go with galactic.

Yes, the nails/claws bother me as well. But the snarl and eyes look better. And no, sorry, it doesn't remind me of Godzilla, being that I love Godzilla and this doesn't make me think of the beast. It's a chunky dino with a sail. I was kind of hoping for a second poll (like the ruffie, the feli, etc etc got).

I'm disappointed that no real changes were made despite how badly (relative to many revamps) it was polling. I am not, however, surprised.

Still looks like a tub of lard to me. Glad I don't have one.

I'm disappointed that the claws weren't fixed, which was something that was pointed out many many times. They look small and stupid. The grr face looks better. I don't like it's new fin; it looks undershaded compaired to the rest of the pet. I also hate the spike coming out next to it. Is the neck teething or something? D: And why is the farthest hand still sticking up like that? Looks broken, but I guess now it permanently is.

Well everyone pretty much summed up exactly what I hate about this revamp, seriously it was even pointed out multiple times that it was previously over shaded and guess what, it's even more so shaded now, wth. I hope this doesn't become a trend on other pet revamps too because it just looks, awkward. The pet looses it's cartoonish quality that I liked about most pets, don't get me wrong if it were just a normal piece of artwork then great it's well made but as a subeta pet, thumbs down for me. ;/

I too am peeved about why the chubby legs weren't fixed and why the claws still look like little nubs, come on, it was also stated over and over in the comments that those should have been fixed, I don't see a threatening dinosaur here, I just see a fat blob that looks tired, yeah the eyes are fixed a bit but it STILL looks like it's not getting enough hours of sleep, the marking under the eye doesn't really help with correcting that problem. Not impressed at all.

One other thing, whats wrong with doing more then one poll? Other pets were given the chance to be polled a second time, even the results on the first mortiking poll showed it was very VERY close so a lot of people obviously weren't very happy with it.

Based on the comments in the news, they don't want it to be a habit to revamp everything multiple times. Those other pets only got polled again because the artists made drastic changes between revamps.

Personally, I think that with such a split between approval and disapproval, there should have been some of those big, second-poll warranting changes to this one. If not enough people liked it to vote for it the first time, there's still going to be a large number of people displeased with tweaks to the same thing, even if a few people feel they've been thrown a bone. :\

I never visit Subeta but I posted this comment today:
I'm not a regular user of Subeta but there happens to be a whole Subeta section at a forum I visit often; ocassionally, I like to have a browse through the topics as I really do enjoy the lovely artwork that Subeta produces.

It is a shame, however, that when I log on to perhaps try and get more involved within the Subeta community, I come face to face with particular members of staff who seem to have an absolutely apalling attitude.

I've always supported the idea that staff should be mature and know when it's best not to say anything at all in response to rude users or comments; reading through them, however, the majority - excluding a few - of comments don't seem to be rude at all and I think it's quite unbelievable that some members of staff are reacting rather over the top to what seem like perfectly reasonable critiques to their art work.
While I might not be a fan of this particular 'revamp', as stated before, I think all of the Subeta artists are fantastic but I find it a huge disappointment that I don't think I'd really be able to enjoy being on this website when all that players recieve from their critiques is a snipey, rude reply. I'm sure that the whole staff team are wonderful people, I really do - but just looking through this comments page has made me realise there's a huge issue that needs addressing here.

It is a shame, perhaps, that I will now probably receive a sarcastic shot from DNA or an rebuttal along the lines of "Well, don't come here then" but I can already tell you now: I won't be visiting here again.

- Alice
I really do like looking through this part of the forum because I genuinely love the artwork that they come up with, so I thought I'd give Subeta a try today. Unfortunately, I think it'd just drive me nuts. DNA comes across as highly unprofessional and frankly, extremely rude.

It's a shame because whilst I might not like this Mortiking, she is clearly very talented.

Very nicely put, Alice. I actually have never played Subeta, but my cousin and younger sister do. She even named her pet after me. They don't mind the pets so much, like when their is a revamp, but sometimes I poke onto her account (I live with my sister) and critique if I feel like something looks wrong. I did this a few times and the attitude the artists and mods had were so appalling, I gave up after that.

It's hard to think most of these talented people are past the age of the snipitty, snarky teen, yet they still act like this. I would expect comments like these from angry 15 year olds on deviant art, but not on what is supposed to be a professional website. While some comments are very polite, and many artists are nice in their comments to users, sometimes certain people make 'nice' comments, which is basically a reply dripping with sarcasm.

Alright, enough about that. I went off there. While there ARE these problems, I do love looking at Subeta's art as it is some of the finest pet site art around. I love to comment on new pet colors and revamps. The mortiking revamp itself is nice, just too overly detailed, overly shaded, too plump (she slimmed it down a tad, I overlayed in my art program and it's basically moved about 2 pixels over), and over all, there was a very very large amount of people who did not like it from what the polls showed. I really thought they would have had a second poll based on this as many many artists do, like the Ruffie with had minor color changes and the lasirus who had a few subtle changes.

It just feels very weird that this did not receive another poll....

Probably because it got actually worse. I thought I liked the first one, but the more I stared at it, the more I started disliking it. Anyways, the ruffie's colors did change pretty drastically. I don't remember being able to vote in the second lasirus poll, though, because I had already voted in the first one. I think they just changed the picture on the original, and if you hadn't voted already, you still could. :/

i think most everything i've had to say has already been touched upon. i think it can be summed up in two words: EPIC FAIL.

sometimes i get the feeling that pets aren't being revamped for the sake of updating their art, but more for the sake of altering them to conform to the artist's particular style in a bid for more control over the direction of the site's art as a whole.

claiming that the overly-shaded aspect of the pet is a growing trend (and must come to be accepted as such) on all the pets - yet having some pets obviously not having these traits - just makes DNA appear as if she's looking to throw her weight and clout around. "this is the way it's going to be."

i'm just glad i don't have a mortiking, and my condolences to people who do.
