Maractite and Dimensional (!) Skeith

Maractite | Dimensional

Another new colour - I wasn't expecting one of those again so soon! How many have we had this year exactly?

It doesn't blow my mind but rather blows my... eyeballs? It's pretty garish and a little awkward looking from a customisation viewpoint.

Maractite is heavily detailed with great 3D looking swirls. Really quite impressive!

I hate Skeiths. I hate Maractite. I do not have much love for a Maractite Skeith, therefore. The patterns clutter it up waaayyyy too much. As for Dimensional...someone pass me a bucket, please.

Larger versions, if your eyes can handle it:

The Maractite design looks maybe a little over-busy to me on the small pic, but on the larger pic it's fine. It looks nicely-detailed, and the pattern seems to have a real depth to it, something that's occasionally lacking on a Maractite pet. In fact it looks even more rotund than an average Skeith.

Dimensional... wow, looks like I could be alone here... I love glowy things and interesting lighting effects and I'm really delighted by this!It certainly draws the eye ;-). I remember when Maractite first came out I used to bang on about how I wished the pattern would look like it was glowing... well, this effect was sort of what I had in mind (just, y'know, follwing the Maractite pattern and in aquamarine). This could be an interesting colour to watch out for in the future, even the paint brush looks sexy. Not sure what the 'Dimensional' is referring to though - it doesn't look particularly three-dimensional (certainly less so than the Maractite), other-dimensional perhaps? The blue patterning on the body gives it a bit more depth.
Due to the choice of colours used it looks reminiscent of an o2 advertising campaign from a few years back.
Overall, a masterpiece of blue neon :-)

Maractite is way too cluttered. And I've already whined a couple times about how I don't like this style of maractite, so I'll save it. But the extra shading does make it look like it has weight. It looks overly round, which normally isn't something I complain about, but bleh skeiths.

Dimensional is interesting. I also love over-saturated, glowy things, so I like this. I'm just not sure about the name. Dimensional? It's a neon sign, end of story. XD

I dunno, even in the larger version, maractite is more like a pattern that happens to have a face. A neat pattern, but man, having a face is distracting.

Dimensional is weird and neon but it's pretty all right for that. I don't care for skeiths all that much in general, so it'll be nice to see in other species.

My my these both look absolutely fantastic! Certainly one of the better Maractite Neopets in my opinion. Not really much to say about that one.

Dimensional is absolutely awesome looking! I can't wait to see more in this color and would really like it if they used different colors for other Neopets for dimensional.

Funny how Skeith has premiered two new colors on two back to back years. (Transparent last year)

Maractite is really busy, but as usual it's otherwise pretty - even on a Skeith. Yeah, there's this sudden "face" effect going on. And the "heart" on the knee makes me giggle a little.

As for Dimensional, wow. Yeah, it's a bit garish, but it's the kind of thing i could have imagined a revamp of Electric Blue would be like. Some of my "electric blue color scheme" gallery items look somewhat like this. Heck, if Eyries come out with this color instead of Wraith when their day rolls around, i might be slightly tempted to FFQ Soaraxian from his current longstanding (beloved) Electric Blue. But i doubt i'd do that. I may just make another pet or something. I like it, and i look forward to how other species will look in this color.

Dimensional looks like it was ran through one of those free online text filters circa 1999. All it needs is some blink.

YES. They should make a flamingtext paint brush. IT WOULD BE SO AWESOME.

Maractite: Oh my goodness, the shading on this is gorgeous! It really does have depth to it. It’s not without problems though - the body is so well shaded that the face ends up looking pretty flat, and that means your attention is drawn away from it. It’s also rather busy; it really could use some more blank space. The inside of the ears and the underside of the wings don’t need texture, for example.

Tl;dr - The shading is gorgeous, but it is a bit busy and the face is somewhat lost because of it.

Dimensional: I really love this color for one main reason: it’s basically a redraw of electric. It always bugged me when there’d a be a good idea for a color, but it would look really plain and blah because TNT didn’t know how to do fancy artwork back then. For me, having a nice update of the color is wonderful. I’m not sure why they called it dimentional though - nothing about it indicates unusual depth. ‘Neon’ would have been a better name.

Now, onto the color itself. Some have said it hurts their eyes - personally it doesn’t bother me, but then again I stare at a computer screen most of the day. I like the textures as it gives it more depth, and the outlines are suitably glowing. No complaints here.

Tl;dr - YMMV, but I think it’s a very nice update to the electric color.

Madge, that cracked me the hell up. I thought you were serious for a good 15 seconds.

Yes, I too approve of the glowing sign. A very cool color that I probably wouldn't zap past on another species. It looks like electric 2.0.

I hate both of them. Maractite could've been good with the depth of the patterns but it's ruined by the overcrowded details. With the dimensional one they were obviously taking inspiration from neon signs but it just looks like they slapped a photoshop filter on the pet and left it at that. It's bland and garish.

Maractite is - very crowded. I wish the outline of the Skeith were more visible because the Maractite markings are shaded to look raised above its skin.

I'm not a fan of how Skeith wings are drawn (without any plausible muscle structure) so it also detracts from Maractite.

Dimensional is not a bad color at all - I like its simplicity.
