Grah, I think this would probably have to be the only pet that I'd prefer as an anthro for royal, simply because minotaurs are awesome and this colour could have been amazing.
*shakes head* Seriously, are the artists out of imagination? We always seem to come up with better ideas that would seem the natural thing to do, yet they're always ignored.

Dissapointing = / Im not a big fan of kau or royals, but this could have been pulled off better... I don't like the clothing on the royalgirl at all, it seems to lack a bit in shading too. The gigantic freaky eyes arent convicing either... the only thing that seems to somehow work is the hairstyle, but nothing else.
As for the royalboy, its too plain, and lacks of something too. Its very simple, it could have been at least a bit better if they used another shade of red that isnt the normal basic one.
Not nice.

In most cases I dislike when quadrupeds are made to stand up, so I can't say I think it would've been much better if they'd done that. But I am disappointed. The clothes just don't work. Just blankets or something might've been all right, or something like they did with the uni (although that's basically a horse, so it's logical, and this is a cow, so not really).

Ah, thank you, Madge. I was trying to figure out what was really bugging me, and you articulated it.
I like the use of the same color for both variants' clothing a lot more here than I did in the royal Krawks, probably I just like this color a lot more than that one. And I like pretty much the entire head region of both pets, as evidenced by the fact that in both cases my favorite pose is the photo pose. However ... oh my god, is the anatomy of both of these screwed up or what? Maybe it's just that the pretty colors are making me look at them harder than I do at most pets, but these seem to me like the most freakily inconsistent pets we've seen in a while. The girl's cape doesn't even have the same design from pose to pose.
I'm sorry they didn't do these two up as Indian royalty. Come on, TNT, coming up with these ideas is not hard. Look, I just did it in under a minute.

The royalgirl looks like that Defender of Neopia hero. You know, that one that wears a green leotard and Neoquest amulet or something?
I was so incredibly relieved to see that they weren't anthro, then incredibly disappointed to see that they weren't that great at all. The royalboy gets my standard complaint for not being different enough in color from the default red kau. Oooh. His hooves are also red. That's different, right? Right?! The clothes are entirely not flattering. The royalgirl is surprising better, but still not good. I do not disapprove of her hair here, I even like the buns swirling up her horns, but I have to agree she's wearing far too many clothes. While the royalboy is just a boring little kau, the royalgirl seems to have ran headfirst into a wall or two trying to get that outfit on.
Really, I wish they had gone with the whole kau knight theme. Instead of useless clothing they could have shiny purposeful armor. Poor things.

I really like royal girl - choice of colours, hairdo, clothes and personality (similar expresions to those of royalgirl shoyru). Skirt was a bit unnecessary though and her back does look strangely arched. I'm very glad it's not anthro and that is probably one of the better royal girls in my book.
Btw she reminds me of queen Cersei from George R. R. Martin's book. Lovely to look upon but deadly.
I have nothing good to say about royal boy though. It's just a kau with an ugly cape. All poses just remind me how badly a kau need a redraw. Plus, those colours are really hard to look at together. Couldn't they have given some strenght to it and made it look like a bull? Bad, bad, bad.

I love Kaus, and I'm just very disappointed. The only poses that don't look overdone or an anatomically incorrect disaster are the circle pose for the girl, and the angry and ranged attack for the boy. The rest just makes me shudder. The colors? They're good. I really like the tiara/headband/whatever on the royal girl, along with her pretty, pretty hair.
I just don't get why TNT artists don't put creativity into all their pets, just some. Look at the new cloud JubJub for instance - brought to life and lovable (for most, I guess) with a new idea. Faerie Pteri and Faerie Lenny, next to C&P crap like the Faerie Uni. Where's the standard?
Okay, done ranting. Sorry.

I really want to love these as I do most other Kau, but I can't bring myself to. They just... aren't meant to have a tonne of clothes packed onto them, they look very unnatural (even though most royals are, but they look better) and awkward.
I was really looking forward to some nice Kau redraws this year, but nope.

Hmm.... more quadruped Royals. I think the Kau would have looked rather odd drawn biped though. The three-quarter view on the Royalboy works well in Happy but because it is not consistent through all its poses it makes the pet overall look a little strange. Royalgirl's yellow is slightly too pale as her face doesn't stand out enough to me, especially against the pale yellow in the Circle pose.
Generally, though, they look a bit too much like bog-standard Kaus which have been draped with a frilly rug and crown. All the Royal ingredients are there but there's no Royal attitude.

Nope, I think they would have looked better standing up. It looked allright on the DON kau, I think it would have looked better on these two as well.
I think I prefer anthro for royal pets because in general they look better (there are exceptions of course)
But Maybe the royal girl would have looked better with less, things on her. And an Indian theme would have been awesome. Taj Mahal Kau!
