A puffin would've been a clever way of combining a bird-based pet with an aquatic colour. Instead we've got the literal interpretation - a half-bird half-fish (a bish... a fird, perhaps?) randomly coloured... thing. This is the stuff nightmares are made of.
While I don't particularly dislike it I think they missed an opportunity here. :/

I like it okay. It reminds me of a parrot fish-- maybe that's the look they were going for. Or maybe I'm confusing fish species again.
I'm not sure if I like the idea of a puffin for the marq. pteri. Puffins look like pengiuns slightly colourwise, and we already have a pengiun-based pet. Can you imagine the emails they would get for that? :roll: Maybe the puffin would have suited a marq. bruce better.
It could be worse-- we could have a marq pteri like this:

(Not that there is anything wrong with it-- I just don't like it for a marq. pteri)
Weird taxidermists. They do a lot of odd things apparently.

It actually doesn't look anything like a parrotfish to me -- it's too bloated, and its face is wrong and its too short and the colouring is off.
In addition, I don't like it -- I had really high expectations of an aquatic bird, and this is just, meh. It doesn't seem related to a real life aquatic thing to me, which is my personal requirement for liking Maraquan pets (and is waived for delicate, detailed pets, such as the Krawk and Draik).

I can't quite decide on this one, it does look quite bizarre in the circle and emotion poses but the battledome poses are just awesome.
Really really awesome, quite possibly my favourite of any pet on the site [edit: though beaten should have been upside down =(]. I just can't make up my mind whether I want one or not. The colours are fabulous, and I like the featheryness that it has kept particularly in the tail but the eyes are really strange in happy/circle....
Argh, too much indecision makes my head hurt ;_;

I just thought that bloatedness was from the pteri. ...because they tried to keep some the pteri's characteristics in this thing, and the species was always a pudgie little thing. I still like it though.Settingshadow wrote:It actually doesn't look anything like a parrotfish to me -- it's too bloated, and its face is wrong and its too short and the colouring is off.
Why does everyone want it to be a puffin? I thought the whole point of the Maraquan color was to turn the pet into something that looks like it could exist underwater. Having one Maraquan pet based on an animal that lives near water would just look out of place and inconsistent with the rest of the color. I can't imagine a flying, air-breathing animal being too happy living in a completely underwater city like Maraqua.
It's not bad. I like the colors, and the idea is cute enough. The Ranged pose is hilarious and awesome; enraged chubby fishie thing! XD;

No, but, no, damn!
I like it, I like it lots. Not enough to go out and buy, but, if I got it from the lab... And my current lab pet is a Pteri. But, he's my battle pet, and I've no plans to stop zapping unless I get something incredible.
But...Jeebus, I dunno. I really kind of like this, zapping past it might be very, very hard. *rambleramble*
Anyway, it's good, but I think I prefer the Bruce to this.
