Desert and Striped Hissi
All poses . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . All poses
I'm almost considering getting a hissi again. Beard on the desert one is a bit too eye catching. Black colour, plus dead straight form doesn't really follow the S-shape form of hissi (it stands out especially on circle and happy pose). Other than that I like it a lot.
I'm not a fan of striped pb but I like those soft colours on hissi

Awesome! I love it!
...although I'm not sure about that beard...
EDIT: The Striped Hissi is meh. I feel like they could have put a bit more effort into making it original...

Desert is cool, but the stripes on striped look more like spots. They should be thinner. But maybe the artist was purposely trying to make them like that so it would look like a diamond-back rattlesnake or some other snake. I'm a bit disappointed they didn't try to colour the striped hissi that way.

Ugh. To me, this only reminds me how stupid it is that desert isn't a redraw. I mean, it probably could be good. It seems okay. It just isn't. It looks stiff, and pasted together, and like a wasted opportunity to do something really cool.
Worse, though, is striped. Honestly. Fuck. You're making a snake striped. A snake. STRIPED. And that's the best you can do? Striped is made for the Hissi. I could have been SO FREAKING COOL.
*le sigh*

It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.
I love the Desert Hissi except from that dumb beard ¬_¬ Snakes do not have beards, hissi certainly do not have beards.
And also I agree with Shmoe, this colour should really be a redraw. It doesn't matter so much in the bd poses I don't think, but they could at least redraw the circle and happy poses. If this was a redraw without a beard it would rank very high in my list of top neopets. I do love the battledome poses though.
The striped one is totally craptastic. Dear gods, striped and hissi should equal amazing. Not craptastic.
Sigh.

I think they save those naturalistic colour shemes for spotted pb.Ava wrote:It'd been cool if the striped hissi had red, black, and yellow stripes like a king snake or something. I don't understand why they insist on making all striped pets the same color scheme.
As they never made a striped pet out of pink/blue colour sheme I never expected they would do so now.

Mmm... I might have to scramble for 300k to make Zane desert while waiting for the royal hissi... Pretty.
And no, I'm not going to rant about the lack of the royal hissi because I don't have a royal paint brush at the moment. ^^
Anyway, I know there are tons of hissi owners waiting for desert, I think it will be a pretty popular color. I love the chest dangly thingy.

I was really excited about both of these, but as it turns out I am slightly more disappointed by the striped Hissi than I am satisfied with the Desert Hissi. I know this has already been addressed, but has everyone on the artistic staff lost their minds? It's not like there's no precedent for things along the general lines of a striped Hissi that looks like one of the many, many types of real striped snake (q.v. spotted Gelert, Kau, Koi, Tuskaninny and Uni, and, in a way, the ice Hissi), and the variations on the standard striped pale-blue-and-pink colors they used aren't even attractive.
On the other hand, put me down as one of the apparently few people who likes that they combined the cobra's hood and the stripy pharaonic headdress. And I can live with the beard. I'm a little sad it isn't wearing a uraeus, because I enjoy recursion.

Edit:
Would it help to think of it as a fake beard? It doesn't behave like one, but the ancient Egyptians were really in to their fake hair; I'm not sure they ever wore real beards of that type at all.Trick wrote:I love the Desert Hissi except from that dumb beard ¬_¬ Snakes do not have beards, hissi certainly do not have beards.
