I agree. I like the colour, as a colour it is a really cool looking mynci with not a horrible lot wrong with it. But a more mutanty looking mutant would be good. The size really isn't a darigan thing but the horns and tail cross over into darigan, and as a mutant you should be outrageous looking and you shouldn't really be sharing any traits with dairgan at least not without having very distinctive traits that separate you from it.Scythemantis wrote:Positively hate it. What happened to unique and bizarre mutants? The color is 50% dead to me at this point.
You know what would have been perfect for the mynci? Something alien-like. Not cute grey alien or green martian type alien, but like the unreleased Tyrannian buzz or the original mutant Aisha. Something with slick skin/armor and demonic teeth.
Or an eyeless monkey with eyeballs in its hands.

After pets with extra mouths, extra eyes, copious amounts of drool and even rotten zombie flesh (the draik), it should be a specific rule that every single mutant have its own unique theme.
Like EYESTALKS. One of my favorite monster characteristics. Considering how common it is everywhere else, it's just baffling that no mutant neopets have eyes on the ends of feelers/tentacles.

I really like this pet, it's just so YAY, second only to Mutant Gelert out of the Mutant pets.
I don't think it's too Darigan like, I mean if this pet had a typical Mynci tail it would be less scary and, well, mutated. I also think the horn add to the Mutant affect, there isn't a rule to say what you look like when you become mutated, one of the things about being a mutant is that you look different and stick out, without the hrons and tail it's just a big, evil gorilla/monkey and not very mutant like. Apart from the hideous colours.

I think it's a bit of a push to say this fails as a mutant pet but the mutant draik DOESN'T. The mutant draik looks pretty much like a medieval dragon - the most mutant thing about it is the exposed brain.Silverevilchao wrote: As a mutant, however, this is PHAIL. Gaze upon the Mutant Aisha or Draik to see what I'm talking about. MUTANT.

It's a ROTTING, TWISTED, PSYCHOTIC dragon.jessibean wrote:I think it's a bit of a push to say this fails as a mutant pet but the mutant draik DOESN'T. The problem with the Mynci is that it looks really Tyannian in its expression and that it looks, frankly, too healthy-looking to be a mutant. It looks like an alternate species of primate with a tail and horns. >.>;;

Then again, there's nothing mutated about the Lenny or Chia. The Chia could pass as a normal pet if we didn't know what a standard Chia looked like, and the Lenny is mutated for a Lenny, but looks almost just like a vulture, which isn't mutated. I'd be fine with the Mutant Mynci if it weren't for the horns and demon-tail!

The Chia used to pass for mutant
That's what I dislike most - when a mutant pet looks "healthy" enough that it could be mistaken for a natural species. Heck, the natural species in other virtual pet/monster games get weirder and creepier than almost any neopet of any color. When they come out with a new mutant, it's a chance to rectify that and bring in more diversity...but instead they keep coming out with crap ones that add nothing new.

Its HUGE. I guess thats whats cool about it. It's well drawn.
Mutant pets I like? Personally? Well, the Mutant Hissi, for its two headedness. Though, it could do with more mutantish things, like..slime, or something. And the Gnorbu..:O As it is bald and flaking and drooling.
Seems like they try to make the mutants too kid-ish sometimes.

If the Lab Ray gave this too me, I'd keep it! Good feel, emotion, and hell, even the demeanor makes it a "win" pet.
However, like everyone agrees, it fails as a mutant. It's almost Tyrannian . . .

or Darigan . . . ?

If they changed it from "Mutant" to "Tyrannian", I wouldn't blink an eye. Then again, for that matter, if they changed the "Tyrannian Buzz" into the "Mutant Buzz" - I wouldn't blink much either.
My conclusion? Good color. Bad name. ^_^
