I was so angry at first at all this but now I'm just sad. Sad that I lost most things that I loved dearly about the Neo in one single day. They sold out. They took away my pets from me. 4/5 of my favorite pets look too disgusting for words now.
I would rather be frozen at the beginning of each new month and start all over again earning my favorite pets than to have them taken from me like this irreversibly. It was a hit in the gut.
And although I'm drawn to parts of the site that haven't changed (games, battledome, neoquest, plots, advent calendar) I feel it would be beneath my dignity to return to something that betrayed me so hugely without a second thought. Sort of like a woman going back to a husband that beats her because she doesn't want to be alone (not the best of analogies but it translates what I want to say).
I understand that those of you whose favorite pets/majority of pets were spared can't relate that well. I think I'll take a break from Neo (maybe log in once a day to see the news), and see whether things change for the better after some time. Maybe I'll pop in for Altador Cup and new plot, or not. Still, I have a feeling everything on Neopets will just go downhill from here.
The only thing that could possibly bring me back is obtaining the only poogle that was spared - desert poogle in its old form (but if old pose neopets revert to new pose ones in pound there's no hope). Even if they don't there's no telling I could find anyone to give me one.

What have you done TNT and Viacom? What have you done?! A PLAGUE ON BOTH OF YOUR HOUSES!!

Ayup. I remember when Neopets was something fun. Not something STFU or whatever you kids call it nowadays. Isn't it funny thinking this started out as a site for teenagers, and is now a site for idiots that like MySpace, GaiaOnline, Youtube, and countless other websites serving no purpose, whether it be for entertainment or otherwise?

If it was April, this would be a very clever joke.

Since it's not, this is stupid.

I think this has potential. I'd love to see some nice Neopets animations. I know they've been done before well (the Justice one flew around for quite some time) and I think this could foster that sort of creativity again.

Creativity could make this a fun feature, and it is something I may even be interested in, and it would be neat to see a Spotlight for videos/cartoons.

What's the Justice one? (It's not something from earlier in the thread that I already forgot about, was it? I'm tired. =p)

Old Flash video, about Neopets, Here is a copy of it (in a collection of flash videos, which shows how cute this could actually turn out)

I'd love to see that sort of thing happen too, Will. We've had the occasional short Flash animation in the Neopian Times comic section for a couple of years now, but I'd really love to see someone do a high-quality 5 or 10 minute animation or series with a proper storyline, be it in Flash, 3D, stop-motion or whatever. I'd love to see that, but I just can't see many people trying it. There's so much potential for storytelling within the Neopian world (all the plot characters, site features etc,) I've occasionally thought about it myself over the years - but I also know that I lack the knowledge, skills and huge amount of time needed to make it happen.

I just can't imagine this feature getting used much for its intended purpose - maybe a featured animation in the Neopian Times weekly would be better, with submissions done the same way they are now so they can be properly vetted before publication on the site.

Well, I'm busy with 3D animation and stuff, so I could definitly see the merit of being able to produce and upload a short piece. But, like many others said, it sounds like a hard thing to moderate.

Shortly said, meh, looks interesting for animation artists to showcase their stuff (depending on the limit of upload involved), or to produce your own storylines, but I fear, like many big upload sites, it will be a. difficult to moderate, b. probably difficult to find good stuff. Do they have a search feature involved?

Maybe the moderation system will be more reaction based, depending on the users to report..

Like everything else on the site? Pfffft. Knowing how the supposedly non-automated mods are, a person jealous of someone else's video can report it and get the innocent user frozen.

I'm expecting the videos to be viewed and approved before being added to the list of watchable material. An automated uploader is screaming for inappropriate content.

As for my opinion of Neovision. I think it's not a big deal, unless TNT makes it a big deal. I'd still like the main page to focus on site news, our pets, and other Neopian happenings. Not the latests Neovision videos.

In my eternal optimism I've come to hope Neovision will be a competition like the art gallery or gallery spotlight, where only the videos that TNT decides are worthy of being the first prize winners are allowed to be viewed.

I mean, that wouldn't be bad. "This weeks Neovision winner is so and so with their video which is actually good".

But my optimism about the customisation was really, really, really off the mark. So maybe I'd better sit with the rest of you and say how lame this is.
