2 New Messages?

Okay, so I got two new PMs today. My inbox was full, so they went to that little stored message place until I made space. I did, and read them.

But for the past six hours it's still said "2 new messages"; I even cleared out my inbox completely, and logged out and back in. Is this common? Can I fix it?

Also, deepest apologies if this has been addressed already - I'm totally exhausted and can't read the 2 page+ threads in Announcements.
