I'm as close to completing my Mote gallery as I'm going to get.
There are only 3 items that I do not have, all of which are very expensive.

So, opinions on my gallery?
I submitted it for the spotlight and would like to win, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Of course, I said the same thing about the Site Spotlight and I won it so who knows?

It's very nice. The only thing I might suggest is organizing your items in some way. Whether they be by colour or item type, whatever.

I think the only thing really going against you is that a mote gallery won spotlight for number 230. But TNT has been known to reward the same theme more than once.

I organized them in Alphabetical order, but I thought about ordering them by color.
And yes, I saw that a Mote gallery won before, but that was a long time ago and I have 14 more items.

Like you said, they re-use the same themes over and over again.
I mean, how many Slushie, Advent, or Paint Brush galleries have they featured over the years?

Like Varii said, I'd organize them a bit better. Nothing wrong with alphabetical order, but grouping them by motes, books, etc tends to look a bit better.

I'm trying to buy Air Mote (TCG).
There's only one on the TP, and the owner wants at least 500k.
Time to drain my stock portfolio. =(

I agree with the frustration involved with completing a Gallery. The one item I need is a retired Hidden Tower item. Last one for sale wanted 30mil and I had 23mil at the time >.<

The last remaining items:

Mote Magic -- 1.6mil

Spellmotes (TCG) -- 500k+

Air Faerie (TCG) -- 500k+

I'm off to buy Air Faerie (TCG), and then I'll be left with next to nothing. LOL
But that just means I'll have to play a ton of games and save up for the other items.

After much searching and dealing for the final couple of items, my gallery is COMPLETE!
I was able to buy Mote Magic for 1mil, and Spellmotes (TCG) for 400k.
The funny thing is that I sent Neomails to several owners of MM, offering 1mil. The price was going higher on the TP, but I had to ask.
One person sent back, saying that they would accept my offer, so I made the trade with them.
Another person sent back after that, saying that they were willing to take 750k.
And then another person sent back to tell me that they would accept 2mil. LOL

1mil is a good deal in my opinion, as I have seen the price jump a LOT in the past few weeks.

And I asked the two dealers of Spellmotes (TCG) for their preferred bid.
I had already dealt with one of them, by buying the Air Motes card from them.
The other person asked me what I would be willing to bid...I told them 300k at first.
They sent back, telling me that they had other offers.
I replied with my 400k prospective offer, and they ignored me.

Soo....I had to wait for the other person to come online every few days to make a deal.
Better to wait for somebody nice to make you a deal, than to spend more NP with somebody who ignores you.

BIG thanks go to Cyro (and others, too!) for donating NP -- without you, I wouldn't have been able to afford the last couple of items!

Sorry about the *quadruple post*, but I have a dilema...

I went to Jellyneo's item database and looked up items that had the word "Mote" in the description.
Now a lot of things are showing up because they might have words like "remotely" or "promote" in the description.
But, check out the description of Novas:
"A nova is a rare magical mote that will not only heal you in battle, it will also damage the opponent with a beam of light! One Use."

Dangit!

There's NO WAY EVER that I could collect NOVA items, too!
Rod of Supernova = gazillion and ten NP

Also, the Wheel of Knowledge (TCG) item has a description of:
"Win Neopoints, Motes, or if you are REALLY lucky, a piece of wisdom from Hagan himself."

But, that's very vague and not directly mote-related.

I'm thinking that I should just stick with TRUE motes and things that have "Mote" in the name of the item, not the description.

Congrats on getting your last few items.

As for your new issue, I really never thought of novas as motes. Actually, I didn't even know that. They might just be a special sub category, or someone botched the description. I always thought of them as two separate things, otherwise the item name would be "nova mote" or something. I wouldn't bother with the novas, they're too far distanced in the mote family (if they are in it) to seem relevant to the gallery.

Novas are motes - In The Darkest Faerie game you're told that Novas are the most powerful of all motes as they have the power of each (so basically they'll attack and defend with type bonuses against any enemy).

That is really annoying! There are so many nova items that you'll be collecting them forever, even without the Rod.

Maybe add in a snarky note at the end like "But we don't have any Novas around here. We don't serve their kind." or something. You'd be making it clear it isn't ignorance that makes it so you don't have any, but rather personal preference.


Also, the gallery is supercute. It makes me want to go play the game again, nothing is more fun than traveling Neopia collecting random motes!

Personally I wouldn't count the Darkest Faerie as 'canon' when it comes to Neopets anyway.
