Sorry I made a whole new thread, I wasn't really paying attention. :(

But I can't make my petpet reappear in the battledome, it only happened once for me...any theories floating around as to why that would be?

Petpets as battledome aides?

I was just "fighting" the lab ray scientist with jade, to get her gender back to normal, and Monty, my zapped Hydruplit, appeared in the left corner of the screen, "floating" over jade. One of my options was to "Use Monty" and once I did, his image disappeared. I have n...

 I'm afraid I did it again...talking on a parallel...I seem to do it all the time nowadays. I also was intending to open up the board with a better definition than what I had left it off with, sorry. :( Back to the books...I found the titles of the other Scott Westerfeld "Uglies" ser...

AngharadTy, we're agreeing on the same things, arguing on a parallel, as my mom would say. :P I agree, she escaped being Offred, (thanks to your quote I was too lazy to look up :D) I took it as she was actually on the "Outside", but what kind of life would she have led? No daughter, Luke a...

My understanding was that she escaped, but not all was happy...she probably never got in touch with her daughter, we're all pretty sure Luke is dead, and her mother was dead for sure. When they discuss the tapes, they diccuss how someone went through the trouble of using old, banned cassette tapes w...

A dystopia (alternatively, cacotopia[1], kakotopia or anti-utopia) is a fictional society that is the antithesis of utopia. It is usually characterized by an oppressive social control, such as an authoritarian or totalitarian government. Some academic circles distinguish between anti-utopia and dyst...

I also like how open the ending was. Was she caught, or was she being saved? How did they find out about her? I personally want to trust Nick along with her, but why? He has done little to prove trustworthiness, and if he is decieving her, he may well be the reason that she is being caught. She is ...

Dear Gott in himmel! *spins around in panic circles* I cannot afford this! Why?! TNT hates me T.T Henna would have been loverly on the girl, but I still like her just the way she is. You can't just pull a near 2 mill brush out your ass when you feel like it. Well, you could, but it wouldn't b...

DYSTOPIAN FICTION- comparisons and reviews...

I've noticed that many topics in the "Epilogue" section have to do with dystopian fiction-fiction that is set in a world that has tried to achieve a utopia (perfect society) and yet has failed miserably. Here I thought we could also post more recent dystopian novels that we enjoyed...start...

Somehow, I found this one a lot more plausible than The Handmaid's Tale- both were well-written, but it really seemed to me as if the scenario in this book could in theory happen anywhere, whereas The Handmaid's Tale was set up in such a way that it really had to be America (and the b...
