Babar is an elephant from an animated series. I think there are books too.DamionDarkheart wrote:...Babar? Who is this demon and why haven't I heard of it before?

I was going to make a comment like that earlier. Elephantes are not on all fours in the normal colours, so I can manage anthro, I like anthro pets anyway.dandelions wrote:Actually, that's a good point- currently, the only Elephante on all fours is the Baby, so it would actually be more incongruous if it were quadrupedal.
The female's growing on me, but I still don't like Beaten enough. Don't suppose it'll be revamped like the royalgirl kyrii's beaten pose...
Do you have a saved version of the old beaten Royal Kyrii? I didn't notive the change.

I would've preferred them zoomorphic myself, but this is still the standard to which Neopets' line art should aspire: cute, interesting, sound concept, detailed but uncluttered. Unfortunately, I don't care for the coloring at all, either the palettes or the style fo the shading. I recognize this as even more a matter of personal preference than the line art thing, though.

Well I think Elephantes look better anthro than they would on all fours, because as Jazz said they are only ever on all fours when they are Baby.Huggles wrote:And elephantes happen to be how old? Sitting on their butts hardly qualifies as anthro. If you're going by TNT's ancient bd poses, then there's a whole lot of pets that should be bipedal that aren't and I have zero tolerance for giving TNT even the slightest impetus to make them so.

Sitting on one's ass ≠ anthro; it = sitting on one's ass, with no indication at all of whether or not the pet in question will stand on two legs or four once it rises from its ass.adi_gallia wrote:Well I think Elephantes look better anthro than they would on all fours, because as Jazz said they are only ever on all fours when they are Baby.Huggles wrote:And elephantes happen to be how old? I'm with Huggles -- nothing looks better anthro.

I agree that quadropeds should stay as such. (And yes, I would consider the elephante to be quadroped because if it were to stand up and actually walk around, I seriously doubt it'd be on it's hind legs)
But anyways, I think that quadropeds and royal don't mix all too well *coughKauscough*. I've said this before, but I think that making royals on pets that are already half anthro (Krawks, Zafaras, Kyriis, Usuls) Have a much better shot at being both executed well, as well as more "believeable". I think the whole idea behind royal is to anthro-ize pets anyway, but to make a quadroped stand up takes away from the "pet" feel, and not so much the ones that stand on two legs already.
I fogot to quote Ty, but she said something like the royalboy elephante looked like a shopkeeper, and not really "royal". I kinda feel that way about the royalboy zafara. He just looks like a messenger boy, or a poet, and not really "royalty".

This is proof they do stand on there feet, just because they sit down in a Happy/Circle pose does not mean that they do not stand, I think if they were on all fours they'd look odd
This is the normal Mutant elephante pose, and they are standing up with it's "legs" where they should have been but look mutated and stuff, I personally think Anthro pets give them a Royal effect seeing as Amira, Hagan and Skarl all stand and there normal poses are Skeith and Aisha who sit like Cats
EDIT:
Personally I think the Lupe looks better, since the Gelert is sitting down it's ruiend it.
These are both "dog" like Neopets so now you see what ones look better eh?
Please try reading before you post. Please. Just this once.
I've already said why the bd poses don't count. They're old—OLD—and TNT was even less known for its consistency back in the day than it is now. This is a species desperately in need of a revamp, and the removal of the smiley from its jewel does not count. For the most part, pets with bamtastic battledome poses like the old wocky's superfist were changed with their revamps. Of course there's still exceptions like the acara, but those were awful revamps regardless. The poses we see the most, especially happy and circle, are usually the ones that make or break a new color or revamp. I'm just going to completely ignore the silliness of saying elephantes look weird walking around on four legs. Because, you know, there isn't a single comparable real life creature that walks in such a bizarre fashion. No.
Quad royal pets don't suck because they're quads. They suck for the exact same reason most anthro ones do, because they were drawn that way. Even if they anthro ones were made quads again, they'd still suck. Fin. I'm not even going to bother going down the long hard road out of plot pet hell.
