Mneh? SEVEN hours' difference?

Post by Rainbow Daydreamer »

...Since when is NST time SEVEN hours behind my timezone?

It's 2pm but the Snowager is very much awake.... and the clock is saying 7am NST! I think we need to get a bug report in...

This will mess up all my foster RDV times... I am so used to calculating NST in my head...

Since Bush decided that Daylight Savings Time had to change a few weeks early, that's since when. 9_9;; Now we're all one hour ahead of where we were before, that's probably why you're having time issues D:

EDIT: And by we, I mean the US.

Daylight Saving Time. One of the greatest evils of the modern era, on par with the Inquisition. Like I don't have enough trouble getting in eight (or indeed more than about six) hours anyway.

In a few weeks it'll go back to being eight hours' difference, when the EU switches...

I would not be opposed to eliminating Daylight Savings Time completely. It's supposed to save energy but as far as I'm concerned it's just a headache.

I suppose I could move to Arizona. But that's got other problems.

I was wondering how many threads to this effect I'd see this morning. :-)

I personally wish that they'd just left Daylight Savings time the way it was. Or get rid of the thing altogether. (Or stay on it permanently, my personal preference as someone who sleeps late and works late.)

I like Daylight savings thank you very muchly. The main reason for this is that I dn't want it getting dark when I'm getting home fro mUni and then spending 3 hours getting stuff done and not being able to enjoy the weather. The one thing I am opposed to is making us switch fomr the current GMT to one hour ahead permanently {which has been considered seriously in the past and a headache those of us further north of the Border do not need}.

But yeah I got kinda confused at first as well ^_^;;, good thing I heard about it y/day so I wasn't as confused as some others are.

Well, if you simplify it a lot, yes - the motion is put forward, then it has to be approved by the Senate, etc. Which this one was. Bush simply signs it at the end.

Hah, I was wondering about the clocks they posted on the news. "Just a few weeks before summer time", I thought by myself.
Before this year the Us would go on DST a week later than europe and for that week everything was an hour later. Now they go on DST two weeks earlier than europe, so for two weeks everything on neo will be an hour earlier but this also means that the stockmarket and food club are back in synch.

Haha I've been staring at this thread for a good 5 minutes and it didn't click in my mind to fix my clocks until just now :P

When I take over the world I'm going to make time zones in China and get rid of Daylight Savings Time :)

Yes. This is a very early April Fool's Joke. All US-based sites, TV shows, airplanes, and other time-related organizations are in on it, just to have a good laugh at your expense.

so hang on.. the US has changed its times, but Europe hasnt.. :s

..does this not cause some sort of .. problems.. somewhere along the line?

Or is this just standard happenings and I'm incredibly unobservant of the world?

This is sort of normal - the US and Europe have never synched daylight savings, which is fair enough when you consider not even all of the US observes DST. The problem here is that it normally synchs and un-synchs at certain times, but the new law means these are different.
